<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST - TO REPAIR STONE WALL - 26TH/NORTHSIDE BOULEVARD -
<br />RIVER PARK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that Mr. Tom Grant, River Park Neighborhood Association, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />requested permission to repair the stone wall at 26'' Street and Northside Boulevard. Mr. Grant
<br />stated that apprentice masons would perform the repairs at no cost to the City. Mr. Gilot stated that
<br />the approval would be contingent upon the volunteers using safety devices, i.e., reflective vests,
<br />goggles and utilizing work zone safety, as well as obtaining written permission from the neighbors
<br />of the stone wall. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. Roemer and
<br />carried, the request to repair the stone wall was approved contingent upon the conditions listed
<br />above.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT CHARITABLE SOLICITATION -
<br />WORLD CHANGERS MISSIONARY PROGRAM - VARIOUS LOCATIONS
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Bob
<br />Simino, 8122 Siear Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana to conduct the above referred to charitable
<br />solicitations on the specified intersections as submitted, beginning on July 24, 2000 throughout the
<br />end of year 2000. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved, subject to the use of reflective safety vests, as well as volunteers
<br />remaining on the pedestrian sidewalks.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY -
<br />INSTALLATION OF AWNING - WELLS FARGO BANK - 112 WEST JEFFERSON
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Fire Department, Building Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference
<br />to a request as submitted by North American Signs, 3601 West Lathrop , South Bend, Indiana to
<br />install an awning at Wells Fargo Bank, 112 West Jefferson, South Bend, Indiana. The Building
<br />Department noted that the awning must be at a height of 8'6" to conform to the zoning ordinance.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was
<br />approved.
<br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY
<br />Mr. Gilot indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as
<br />completed by Mr. Shane Sult, 1846 Winston Drive, South Bend, Indiana to vacate the following
<br />alley:
<br />The first north south alley west of Notre Dame Avenue from the south right of way of South
<br />Bend Avenue to the north right of way of Almond Court for a distance of approximately
<br />233.3 feet and a width of 12 feet. Part located in the Bugbee's Add., South Bend, St. Joseph
<br />County, Indiana.
<br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation
<br />Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation,
<br />Department ofEconomic Development and the Department of Public Works. Solid Waste noted that
<br />residents should be informed to place the trash in the front of the home, should the vacation be
<br />approved. The Division ofEngineering recommended approval subject to the owners of Lots 16 and
<br />"A" providing cross access agreements to each other. Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the
<br />Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition.
<br />Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried.
