241 REGULAR MEETING JULY 14, 2003 OPENING OF BIDS - ONE (1) MORE OR LESS, 2003 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TRACTOR WITH REAR MOUNTED BLOWER - PARK DEPARTMENT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened: NEW HOLLAND ROCHESTER 1260 East 100 South Rochester, Indiana 46975 It was noted that the above bid did not include a signature for the Non -Collusion Affidavit. The document was notarized, but not signed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above bid was rejected. OPENING OF QUOTATIONS/AWARD QUOTATION - WABASH STREET IMPROVEMENTS - DELAWARE TO CALVERT - PROJECT NO. 103-047 Mr. Gilot advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed Quotations for the above referred to project. The following Quotations were opened and read: HERRMAN & GOETZ 225 South Lafayette South Bend, Indiana 46601 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Jeff Wells QUOTATION: $72,980.00 (Note: After reviewing quotations, it was found calculations in the bid were incorrect. The corrected cost is $73,480.00 YOUNGS EXCAVATING, INC. Post Office Box 2766 South Bend, Indiana 46680 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Kurt Youngs QUOTATION: $68,120.25 HRP CONSTRUCTION INC. 5777 Cleveland Road South Bend, Indiana 46628 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Paul Fallon QUOTATION: $69,664.00 Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above Quotations were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. After reviewing those bids, Ms. Thia Hull, Engineering, recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Youngs Excavating, Post Office Box 2766, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $68,120.25. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried. AWARD BID - WALNUT AND EUCLID CONTROL STRUCTURE - PROJECT NO. 102-078C Mr. Jason Durr, City Engineer, advised the Board that on June 23, 2003, bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Durr recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, HRP Construction, 5777 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $152,100.00. Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried.
