REGULAR MEETING JULY 25, 2005 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS — SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Kathy Eli, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for <br />the sale of approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at <br />Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was <br />noted that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks <br />had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS — <br />MODEL CITIES BASIN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT — PROJECT NO. 104-074 <br />(SEWER BOND) <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, requested permission to <br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Therefore, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell, the above request was approved. <br />AWARD BID — WESTERN AVENUE CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS — PROJECT <br />NO. 104-026A (COIT) <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, advised the board that on June 27, 2005, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Durr <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible <br />bidder, Walsh and Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount <br />of $159,775.60. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Gilot seconded the motion, <br />which carried. <br />AWARD BID — MIAMI STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS — PROJECT NO. 105-026 <br />COIT <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, advised the board that on June 27, 2005, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Durr <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible <br />bidder, Walsh and Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount <br />of $256,785.75 Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Gilot seconded the motion, <br />which carried. <br />AWARD BID — RINK RIVERSIDE BUILDING DEMOLITION — PROJECT NO. 105- <br />039 (SBCDA BOND 2003) <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, advised the board that on June 27, 2005, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Durr <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible <br />bidder, Warner and Sons, Inc., Post Office Box 87, Elkhart, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$124,875.00. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Gilot seconded the motion, <br />which carried. <br />AWARD BID — OLIVER STREET PUBLIC WORKS — PROJECT NO. 105-021 <br />CDBG <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, advised the board that on June 27, 2005, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Durr <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible <br />bidder, McIntyre Jones, Inc., 2522 West Sixth, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$147,234.41. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Gilot seconded the motion, <br />which carried. <br />TABLE AWARD BID — UNITED DRIVE RELOCATION & CHAPIN STREET <br />RENOVATION — PROJECT NOS. 103-076 & 103-076A (COIT) <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Gilot, and carried, the Bid Award <br />was tabled. <br />
