SPECIAL MEETING <br />RESOLUTION <br />OCTOBER 15TH. 1952 <br />WHEREAS, the use and number of automobiles has grown in the past twenty years of economic progress in the city <br />of South Bend, by reason whereof acute problems are being created in moving and in parking of said vehicles to <br />the greatest convenience of the motorists and citizens of this community; and <br />4 <br />WHEREAS, the Association of Commerce has suggested that a survey be made of the parking situation now prevalent <br />in the entire city of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, parking meter funds are available for use in such a survey and these funds are intended to be used <br />for the improvement of the general traffic problem in the city of South Bend; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Polish American Business Menst Association does hereby state its approval <br />of the plan suggested by the South Bend Association of Commerce for an independent, impartial city -wide survey <br />to be made of the parking situation in the city of South Bend, which proposal contemplates the use of parking <br />meter funds to pay for this - ervice; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of South Bend be, and it is hereby urged to appropriate <br />such sums of money as may be reasonably necessary to permit'such city-wide survey to be made. <br />The foregoing was adopted at a regular meeting of the Polish American Business Men's Association held September <br />30, 1952. <br />Edward Minczeski <br />President <br />ATTEST: <br />Irvi4 F. Sikorski <br />Secretary <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the resolution be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Bestle seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Mr. Dan-Clark, Chairman, Parking Committee of the Association of Commerce, presented petitions signed by more <br />than 9,000 residents of South Bend and nearby towns and cities asking for better parking conditions. <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion t hat the question of parking be referred to the Committee of the Whole for <br />further study and notification of public hearingio Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Mr. John Zrinyi also presented petitions to the Council to enforce the limit on parking vehicles in front of <br />residences a.nd. dwellings• Councilman Korpal made a motion that the petitions be accepted and placed on file. <br />Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />yam_ <br />10 <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, which motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Muszynski.
