REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY November 28, 1940 <br />TO THE C0181ON COUNCIL: <br />At the regular meeting of the Common Council on October 14, 1940, a request was made of the Board of Works and <br />Safety as to the status of the petition for street lights at the corner of Oakside and Dale Ave., Oakside and High <br />St., and Woodside and Dale Ave. <br />This petition was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and report and he has recommended the installation of a <br />4000 lumen overhead mast arm light at the intersection of Dale Ave.,.and Oakside Blvd., at a cost of $32.40 per year <br />The installation of boulevard lights at this location is not recommended. <br />We have ,written Dr. E. J. Cain, one of the petitioners advising him of Mr. Qualls' recommendation. <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety is of the opinion that a 4000 lumen light should be installed, but they do not <br />fapprove of the boulevard type construction. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />Clyde E. Williams, Chairman <br />Councilman Hull made a motion that the report be tabled. The motion was adopted by a unanimous favorable vote. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COI+RAISSION Dec. 6, 1940 <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South Bend, Ind. <br />Gentlemen: <br />At the regular meeting of the City Plan Commission, Dec. 5, 1940, a plat was submitted for their approval of the <br />subdivision of a portion of the light industrial territory fronting on Esther St. south of the old watch factory <br />into building lots for residence development. <br />This plat is to be known as John Adams 1st Addition and is now zoned "D" light industrial and "E" height and area <br />district. <br />The City Plan Commission recommends that the zoning classification of this subdivision be changed to "B "'residence <br />district and "A" height and area district. <br />Yours truly, <br />D.
