E, Corudek <br />Chairman of Committee <br />GASOLINE STATION OPERATORS NATION-AL-COUNCIL <br />AKRON, OHIO <br />LOCAL NO. 1 402 <br />WHEREAS: The Police, Firemen and Signal Station Operators are engaged in hazardous. vocations. <br />The requirements of-the city government pleces a great responsibility in their duties in the <br />protection of life and property of the citizens of our city <br />pn_d WHEREAS: The present wpge scale of these public servants is not commensurate with the <br />rising cost of living in every detail <br />end WHEREAS-: The moral of these departments must be kept at a high level and the requirements <br />in the selection of men for these duties must be tiiaintained <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Gasoline Station Operators, Local 18402 of South Bend lend <br />their whole- hearted support toward the enactment of an ordinance, which will enable the City <br />- -f South Bend to increase the salaries of the Police, Firemen and Signal Operators <br />and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That a. cop; of this resolution be furnished each member of the <br />city council, board of Public Safety and the Mayor of South Bend. <br />Chas. So that <br />the motoring public can use it ega.in. <br />There is one more thing that we wish to ask for and that is to also repair the viaduct over the <br />New York Central tracks. If it is in any way possicle we would like to have a new concrete <br />viaduct , as the present one spoils the eppeprence of the neighborhood. The New York Central <br />Railwpy Co. should coopere +e in making this chpnge.
