RFGLrLAE MEETING NOVEMBER 8, 1965 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 119 -65 <br />WHEREAS, WALTER G. GLASS, was at all times cognizant of the many. problems facing the City of South <br />Bend; and devoting his efforts to the welfare of the City far beyond the ordinary call of duty; and <br />WHEREAS, he served the City as a Councilman of the Third District since 1947, until his illness and <br />death, November 5, 1965, and <br />WHEREAS, in dArtying out his duties and responsibilities as Councilman, and <br />WHEREAS, we admired him for his sound judgement, clarity of expression, loved him for his fairness and <br />generousity, and esteemed him for his great courage, his high sense of honor, and his constant devotion <br />to the interests of South Bend, and <br />WHEREAS, in his passing, the members of this Governing Body have lost a staunch friend and a wise <br />counsellor. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: <br />THAT they herewith record for the City the highest respect and esteem in which WALTER G. GLASS, was <br />held in his official and unofficial capacities; and as a true, loyal and devoted citizen of the City; and <br />do record the most sincere appreciation of the City for his devotion and assistance to its welfare; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the utmost sympathy be extended to his wife, ELLEN H. GLASS, and daughter, <br />MISS PHYLLIS GLASS, in their great loss; and that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this <br />meeting and a copy of this resolution be delivered to his wife and daughter in token of our sympathy. <br />DATED this 8th -flay of November, 1965. <br />/s/ John L. Wise <br />The resolution was unanimously adopted by the Council. <br />President instructed the Clerk to send letters to the Police Chief and Fire Chief expressing the <br />gratitude of Councilmen for the services accorded them at the funeral of Walter Glass, today. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Smith made a motion that the meeting be <br />adjourned.
