Councilman Palmer made a motion <br />that the ordinance be set for public hearing on March 22, 1965. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion <br />that the ordinance be set for public hearing on March 22, 1965. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4733 - -65 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE SOUTH BEND <br />SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT AND THE MEMPHIS EQUIPMENT COMPANY <br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF REO SERIES "M" 2'k TON 6 WHEEL DRIVE <br />TRUCK IN THE SUM OF $4,995.00. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Wise made a motion for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of <br />9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FROM THE <br />GENERAL FUND TO THE PRINTING ACCOUNT OF THE OFFICE OF <br />CITY CLERK IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000.00, <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that <br />the ordinance be set for public hearing on March 22, 1965. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. Councilman Smith asked that Department heads send Councilmen a letter of explanation for the requests. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FROM THE <br />GENERAL FUND AND TRANSFERRED TO THE BUILDING DEMOLITION <br />REPAIR AND CONTINGENT FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,500.00. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Allen made a motion that <br />the ordinance be set for public hearing on March 22, 1965. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94 - -65 <br />RESOLUTION FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION IN THE LAND <br />ACCOUNT OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$1000.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE MOTOR <br />EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT IN THE SAME CATEGORY OF THE SANITATION <br />DEPARTMENT, ALL WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND. <br />WHEREAS, Certain extraordinary conditions have developed since the adoption of the existing annual budget; so <br />that it is now necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the annual budget for the various <br />functions of City Government to meet such extraordinary contingencies; and, <br />WHEREAS, Funds for land improvements are urgently needed by the Sanitation Department to assure its ability to <br />properly perform its function and the sum of One Thousand ($1000.00) Dollars is needed forthwith; and, <br />WHEREAS, A surplus exists in another account where it is not presently needed at this time; and more specifically <br />as follows, to -wit: <br />1. One Thousand ($1000.00) Dollars in Account XX -722 designated as Motor Equipment Account. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, that the sum of One Thousand <br />($1000.00) Dollars be transferred to Account XX -73 designated as Land Account, by transferring it from Account <br />XX -722, both of said accounts being in the same category, to -wit: Properties, of the Sanitation Department <br />all within the General Fund. <br />Isl John L. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />Councilman Allen instructed the Clerk to notify the City Planning Commission that all petitions and papers <br />pertaining to rezoning carry a descriptive line at the top of the paper, giving the general description of the <br />property for quick identification. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Mr. Kenneth Beck, 1601 E. Bowman St., appeared before the Council to complain that the City's installation of a <br />new culvert and grate at Twyckenham Drive and C1yde.;Street did not solve the problen of flooding in the area. <br />The matter was referred to the Street Department. <br />
