REPORT ON HIBBERD COURT MEMO TO: THE COMMON COUNCIL - -- ATTENTION: Mr. Albert Tellson November 28, 1960 SUBJECT: SIDEWALKS ON MORTH MICHIGAN STREET - In reply to your request at the last Council Meeting on November 14th the attached letter from Mr. Dan Richardson, is self - explanatory. /s/ R. Sabo, Clerk Board of Public Works and Safety November 28, 1960 In reply to your inquiry concerning Councilman Tellson's complaint on Hibberd Court at Michigan Street, please be advised as follows: The crosswalk on Michigan Street crossing Hibberd Court is approximately 3" below the sidewalk level. This is not an unusual circumstance in the City since a great many crosswalks do have a step -down. We have investigated this situation and find that water does not stand in the crosswalk and do not believe a hazard exists. If the Board of Works so desires we will build this crosswalk up to a level with the existing sidewalk. However, we feel this will create a rise which vehicles must cross over when using the Court, which may cause cars to drag their undercarriage at this point. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (Real Estate involved located on Portage Avenue - - -700 Block), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion it should be continued until December 12. /s/ T. Michigan Street), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. /s/ T. W.
