521 REGULAR MEETING MARCH 8, 1971 ORDINANCES, THIRD READING ORDINANCE NO. 5271 -71 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL SALARIES, PAYABLE FROM THE GENERAL FUND, FOR OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO BE ELECTED FOR THE TERM COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1972 AND FIXING THE TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT, AS AMENDED. The City Clerk was instructed by Council President Laven to read the amendment offered as a substitute for Section I of the ordinance. It was as follows: Section I. That the following annual salaries, payable from the General Fund, are hereby fixed for the following elected officers of the City of South Bend, Indiana, effective for the elective term commencing January 1, 1972, and continuing during the years of their elective terms of office. Mayor, for the calendar years 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975: each year ........................$25,000 City Clerk For the calendar For the calendar year 1972 ............................ 81000 For the calendar year 1973 ............................ 8,500 For the calendar year 1974 ............................ 9,000 For the calendar year 1975 ............................ 9,500 Members of the Common Council (each) For the calendar year 1972 ............................ 3,000 For the calendar year 1973... ....................... 3,200 For the calendar year 1974 ............................ 3,400 For the calendar year 1975 ............................ 3,600 Councilman Wise made a motion, seconded by Councilman Grounds for the adoption of the amendment. Motion carried. 7 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Grounds, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski) 2 nays. (Councilmen Craven and Szymkowiak) 0 absent. The ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Wise made a motion, seconded by Councilman Palmer, for passage of the ordinance as amended. There being no discussion on the motion, the ordinance was passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Grounds, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski) 2 nays. (Councilmen Craven and Szymkowiak) 0 absent. ORDINANCE NO. 5272 -71 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND BADGER METER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, MILWAU- KEE, WISCONSIN, FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORT- MENT OF WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1971 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1972, IN THE AMOUNT OF $186,577.50 The ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Grounds made a motion, seconded by Councilman Zielinski for passage of the Ordinance. There being no discussion on the motion, the ordinance was passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski) 0 nays, 0 absent. ORDINANCE NO. 5273 -71 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND GAMON - CALMET INDUSTRIES INC. OF FLORENCE, KENTUCKY FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT OF WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1971 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1972, IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,257.94. The ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Allen made a motion, seconded by Grounds for passage of the Ordinance. There being no discussion on the motion, the was passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Szymkowiak, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski) 0 nays, 0 absent. ORDINANCE NO. 5274 -71 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND HERSEY - SPARLING METER COMPANY, DEDHAM, MASSACHUSETTS, FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT OF WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1971 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1972, IN THE AMOUNT OF $38,779.00 Councilman ordinance Grounds, The ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Zielinski made a motion, seconded by Councilman Palmer for passage of the Ordinance. There being no discussion on the motion, the ordinance was passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski) 0 nays, 0 absent.
