Councilman Parent made a.motion that <br />seconded by Councilman Taylor. Councilman Newburn made a motion to amend the ordinance as <br />amended in the Committee of the Whole portion of the meeting, seconded by Councilman Taylor. The <br />motion carried. Councilman Parent then made a motion that.the amended ordinance be set for public <br />hearing and second reading on May 28, 1974, seconded by Councilman Taylor. The motion carried. <br />IIORDINANCE NO. 5668 -74 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,500.00 FROM <br />THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND AND $4,500.00 <br />FROM THE CUMULATIVE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND <br />FOR PROJECT R & S 64, MISHAWAKA AVENUE AT <br />THE INTERSECTIONS OF IRONWOOD DRIVE, 26TH <br />STREET AND 30TH STREET. <br />This ordinance had second reading. Councilman Taylor made a motion that the ordinance <br />seconded by Councilman Miller. The ordinance passed.by a roll call vote of nine ayes <br />Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth). <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5669 -74 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $81,000.00 FROM <br />THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND AND $9,000.00 <br />FROM THE CUMULATIVE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND <br />FOR R & S 52 (A), ANGELA BOULEVARD AT THE <br />INTERSECTION OF MICHIGAN STREET (U.S. 31). <br />This ordinance had second reading. Councilman Serge made a motion that the ordinance <br />seconded by Councilman Parent. The ordinance passed by a roll call vote of nine ayes <br />Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth). <br />RESOLUTIONS <br />IIRESOLUTION NO. 420 -74 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING IMPROVEMENTS TO BE <br />MADE IN ANNEXED TERRITORY PURSUANT TO <br />ANNEXATION ORDINANCE REQUIRING IMPOUNDMENT <br />OF TAXES (IRONWOOD, INWOOD AND RETENTION <br />BASIN) . <br />pass, <br />(Councilmen <br />pass, <br />(Councilmen <br />WHEREAS, the area described in Ordinance 5009 -68, and which real estate-is specifically <br />described in the Ordinance attached hereto and made a part hereof and marked Exhibit A, was <br />annexed to the City of South Bend effective 7- 12 -73; and <br />WHEREAS, said Ordinance provides pursuant to provision permitted by the annexation <br />laws of the State of Indiana for impoundment of one -half of all municipal property taxes <br />to be imposed upon the annexed territory for a three -year period following the effective <br />date of the annexation; and <br />WHEREAS, it is presently estimated that $37,800 will be collected for impoundment <br />pursuant to said Ordinance over a three -year period; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend proposes to extend <br />municipal services and benefits and make public improvements for the benefit of the annexed <br />area during 1974 by using the funds which at a later date will be appropriated for such <br />purpose and which benefits and improvements will be of a cost and benefit in excess of the <br />amount of property taxes to be impounded for said area over the three -year period. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana: <br />SECTION I.
