Main St., South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Mr. King: <br />s:? to <br />The St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission Staff has reviewed the proposal <br />of Wells Electronics to build a new plant in the 1900 block on the west side of <br />South Main Street. The property in this block is presently zoned "E" heavy <br />industrial. The proposal is consistent with the present zoning and the Comprehensive <br />Plan for Community Development. <br />It should be noted that this particular area lies one block south of the tentative <br />boundaries for the Studebaker Industrial Corridor Study. <br />Very truly yours, <br />/s/ Howard Bellinger <br />Executive Director <br />HB /et <br />of <br />ED <br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Mr. Kenneth Fedder, Attorney for the <br />Economic Development Commission, explained to the Council that this resolution involves an <br />internal expansion program of Wells Electronics, Inc. through the Economic Development Commission. <br />The Commission feels that the need for the program exists and that the community will benefit <br />and is asking the Council for favorable action on the resolution. Councilman Kopczynski made a <br />motion for adoption of the resolution, seconded by Councilman Taylor. The resolution was adopted <br />by a roll call vote of nine ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, <br />Kopczynski, Horvath, Nesaburn and Nemeth). <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST READING <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68 AS..AMENDED, <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (CHAPTER 40, MUNICIPAL CODE) <br />(4004 S. Michigan Street) <br />This Ordinance had first reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance and the <br />petition contained in Item 9A be referred to the Area Plan Commission for their recommendation. <br />Councilman Taylor seconded the motion and it carried. <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING METER FEES AND <br />FUNDS FOR THE YEAR 1973 TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AND SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR <br />THE USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH THEREIN, IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH CHAPTER 208 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF <br />THE STATE OF INDIANA OF 1965. <br />This Ordinance had first reading. Councilman Miller moved that the ordinance be set for public <br />hearing and second reading on January 8, 1973, seconded by Councilman Kopczynski. The motion <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING <br />FUNDS FOR THE YEAR 1973 TO THE BOARD OF <br />SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH THEREIN, IN <br />190 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY <br />OF 1955. <br />37ARAGE FEES AND <br />PUBLIC WORKS AND <br />INDIANA FOR THE <br />ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER <br />OF THE STATE OF INDIANA <br />This Ordinance had first reading. Councilman Miller moved that the ordinance be set for public <br />hearing and second reading on January 8, 1973, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The motion carries <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WASTEWATER <br />TREATMENT PLANT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND <br />FMC CORPORATION, ENVIRONMENTAL EQUIPMENT DIVISION, CHICAGO, <br />ILLINOIS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A MODEL 36A COMMINUTOR IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $13,964.00. <br />This ordinance had first:_reading. Councilman Newburn made a motion that the ordinance be set for <br />public hearing and second reading on January 8, 1973, seconded by Councilman Horvath and carried. <br />
