REGULAR MEETING DECEM FR 18 1972 RESOLUTION NO. 343 -72 (CONTINUED) In December 13, 1972 Mr. Karl G. King, Jr., President Economic Development Commission c/o Office Engineers, Inc. 117 N. Main St., South Bend, Indiana Dear Mr. King: s:? to The St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission Staff has reviewed the proposal of Wells Electronics to build a new plant in the 1900 block on the west side of South Main Street. The property in this block is presently zoned "E" heavy industrial. The proposal is consistent with the present zoning and the Comprehensive Plan for Community Development. It should be noted that this particular area lies one block south of the tentative boundaries for the Studebaker Industrial Corridor Study. Mr. Kenneth Fedder, Attorney for the Economic Development Commission, explained to the Council that this resolution involves an internal expansion program of Wells Electronics, Inc. through the Economic Development Commission. The Commission feels that the need for the program exists and that the community will benefit and is asking the Council for favorable action on the resolution. Councilman Kopczynski made a motion for adoption of the resolution, seconded by Councilman Taylor. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Nesaburn and Nemeth). ORDINANCES, FIRST READING ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68 AS..AMENDED, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (CHAPTER 40, MUNICIPAL CODE) (4004 S. Michigan Street) This Ordinance had first reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance and the petition contained in Item 9A be referred to the Area Plan Commission for their recommendation. Councilman Taylor seconded the motion and it carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING METER FEES AND FUNDS FOR THE YEAR 1973 TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH THEREIN, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 208 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF INDIANA OF 1965. This Ordinance had first reading. Councilman Miller moved that the ordinance be set for public hearing and second reading on January 8, 1973, seconded by Councilman Kopczynski. The motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING FUNDS FOR THE YEAR 1973 TO THE BOARD OF SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH THEREIN, IN 190 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 1955. 37ARAGE FEES AND PUBLIC WORKS AND INDIANA FOR THE ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER OF THE STATE OF INDIANA This Ordinance had first reading. Councilman Miller moved that the ordinance be set for public hearing and second reading on January 8, 1973, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The motion carries ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND FMC CORPORATION, ENVIRONMENTAL EQUIPMENT DIVISION, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A MODEL 36A COMMINUTOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,964.00. This ordinance had first:_reading. Councilman Newburn made a motion that the ordinance be set for public hearing and second reading on January 8, 1973, seconded by Councilman Horvath and carried.
