REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 28, 1972
REGULAR MEETING - CONTINUED
RESOLUTIONS - CONTINUED
RESOLUTION NO. 297 -72
A public hearing was held on this Resolution at this time. David Wells, Assistant City
Engineer, explained that the city has filed for State and Federal Grants for the expansion of
the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the amount of $4,451.275. We must keep filing for these
grants and the city must make application each year. Miss Guthrie asked how the money would
be used if it were received and whether it could eventually reduce our sewage rates. Mr. Wells
explained that we never get the amount of money requested and that the purposes for which it
can be spent are included in the bond ordinance. In answer to a question by Councilman Newburn,
Charles Watkins, Deputy City Controller, explained that under Public Law 660 the Mayor is
designated to sign applications for grants but that the Council would pass any resolutions
regarding funds granted. The clerk then proceeded with the third reading of the resolution.
Councilman Taylor moved for adoption of the resolution, seconded by Councilman Parent. The
resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller,
Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth). 0 nays.
There being no further business, unfinished or new, to come before the Council, Councilman
Parent made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Horvath.
