MMM <br />REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 28, 1972 <br />REGULAR MEETING - CONTINUED <br />ORDINANCES, THIRD READING - CONTINUED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5383 -72 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />AND MID -STATE CHEMICAL & SUPPLY CORPORATION, <br />INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, FOR THE PURCHASE OF <br />CHEMICALS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1973 IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,125.00. <br />This Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance be <br />amended by striking the words "for use" from the title,of the ordinance. Councilman Kopczynski <br />seconded the motion and it was carried. Councilman Taylor made a motion for passage of the <br />ordinance as amended, seconded by Councilman Horvath. Councilman Newburn asked why some of the <br />chemicals were purchased in South Bend and some from other cities. Mr. Krueper replied that <br />the contracts were awarded on bids where the best price could be obtained. The ordinance passed <br />by a roll call vote of eight ayes (Councilmen Serge, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, <br />Newburn and Nemeth). One nay (Councilman Szymkowiak). <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5384 -72 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />AND INLAND CHEMICAL CORPORATION, SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA FOR THE PURCHASE OF CHEMICALS FOR USE <br />FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1973 IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $6,811.50. <br />This Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance be <br />amended by striking the words "for use" from the title of the ordinance. Councilman Kopczynski <br />seconded the motion and it was carried. Councilman Kopczynski moved for passage of the ordinance <br />as amended, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The ordinance passed by a roll call vote of nine <br />ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Newburn and <br />Nemeth). 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5385 -72 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />AND BADGER METER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, MILWAUKEE, <br />WISCONSIN FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT OF <br />WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1973 IN THE AMOUNT OF $210,212.36. <br />This Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance be <br />amended by striking the words "for use" from the title of the ordinance. Councilman Kopczynski <br />seconded the motion and it was carried. Councilman Kopczynski moved for passage of the <br />ordinance as amended, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The ordinance passed by a roll call vote <br />of nine ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Newburn <br />and Nemeth). 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS "THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ". <br />This ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Upon motion by <br />Councilman Szymkowiak, seconded by Councilman Kopcznyski, and carried, the ordinance was set for <br />public hearing on March 13. 1972. <br />11 RESOLUTIONS <br />11 RESOLUTION NO. 297 -72 <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE REPRESENTATIVE <br />AUTHORIZED TO APPLY WITH THE APPROPRIATE AGENCY <br />FOR A GRANT UNDER THE TERMS OF PUBLIC LAW 660. <br />(WHEREAS, the City of South Bend is undertaking the construction of certain sewage works <br />improvements; and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Law 660 Federal Funds are available in the form of an outright grant <br />for certain stream pollution abatement projects; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is believed that the major portion of the sewage works improvements proposed by the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, qualify for a federal grant; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Water Quality Administration requires that the authorized representative <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana's governing body be designated by both name and title, <br />INOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: <br />That Jerry J. Miller, Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, be authorized to sign applications <br />and such other documents as may be necessary, including the offer and acceptance form. <br />/s/ Peter J.
