'27 <br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 12, 1976 <br />REGULAR RECONVENED <br />NEW BUSINESS (CONTINUED) <br />Council Member Serge requested that Mr. Rollin Farrand, Director of the Board of Public Works, <br />report to the media that funds were depleted for street lights. Mr. Farrand said in November of <br />1974, . the City stopped installing lights. He said at the present time he was preparing a com- <br />plete report on this budget. He said he anticipated the Council will be scheduling him at a <br />caucus meeting to present the report. He indicated wi <br />was even more critical. th the proposed rate increase this situati <br />Council Member Serge questioned Mr. Seitz in regard to the trees overgrowing the street lights. <br />Mr. Seitz, Superintendent of Parks, said they only have one crew and it is impossible to take c <br />of all the street lights. <br />Council Member Adams asked Captain Terry of the Police Department the trade -in received for the <br />mall motor bikes, and for what type of unit they were traded in. Captain Terry said they were <br />traded for police cars. Council Member Adams asked Captain Terry for a report on what was re- <br />ceived for each unit. Council Member Dombrowski asked why these units were not auctioned. Cap- <br />tain Terry said they felt it was not appropriate to auction purchased equipment of the City. He <br />said they felt the items should be disposed of through official action of the Board of Public <br />Works. Council Member Dombrowski said he thought they could get more money out of an auction. <br />Council Member Kopczynski indicated to Captain Terry that he has seen a practice he did not agree <br />with, and that was the purchase by policemen from the dealer, of the Suzuki motorcycles after <br />they were traded in. Captain Terry said he was not aware of any policemen who have bought a Suzu <br />Council Member Kopczynski said he has seen instances of police cars traded in that have been driv <br />very few miles, and they are immediately bought by an individual. He said that Council should <br />Took into this practice, and it should be controlled by the Council. He said he urged the Counci <br />president to appoint a committee to look into this. Council President Parent said he would take <br />this matter under advisement. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, unfinished or new, Council Member <br />Taylor made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Council Member Adams.
