7. Earthwork and Grading will be paid for at the lump sum contract price as set forth in the Proposal. <br />XXVIII. COMPACTED AGGREGATE BASE, NO. 53 <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2026, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 301 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. Compacted Aggregate No. 53 shall be Class D or higher. Crushed concrete will be allowed for <br />Compacted Aggregate for Base No. 53 provided it is in accordance with the graduation <br />requirements of Compacted Aggregate for Base, No. 53. Crushed concrete shall be tested for <br />gradation a minimum of once for every 1,000 tons used on the project. <br />2. Compacted Aggregate Base No. 53 will be paid for at the unit price as set forth in the Proposal. <br />XXIX. CURING COMPOUND <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2026, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 501 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The only acceptable method of curing standard concrete curbing and sidewalk will be white <br />membrane. All concrete shall be membrane -cured regardless of the weather conditions <br />2. The curing compound will not be paid for directly but shall be included in the cost of other items. <br />3. No payment will be made for concrete that is not cured. <br />XXX. CONCRETE CURB <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2026, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 605 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. Expansion material is required at all cold joints, point of curvatures, point of tangencies, alignment <br />changes, and at 80' maximum intervals in all other areas. <br />2. Transverse control joints shall be placed at equal intervals not to exceed 10 feet. <br />3. Where abutting existing curb, the new curb height shall be adjusted during the last five (5) feet to <br />match the existing curb profile. <br />4. The only acceptable method of curing will be white membrane. All concrete shall be membrane - <br />cured regardless of weather conditions. <br />5. Concrete Curb, as a pay item, stops at the commencement of any concrete approach. For a <br />concrete approach with a wing, this is at the beginning of the wing. For an approach with a radius, <br />the approach ends and the curb begins at the tangent point of the radius of the approach and the <br />curb line. (Running a curb slip -forming machine through a concrete approach will not be considered <br />in the quantity for curb) <br />6. Where existing curb is to be removed and replaced without replacing the adjacent pavement, the <br />contractor shall saw cut the existing pavement 24" from the face of the curb prior to removal. The <br />area between the proposed curb and existing pavement shall have an asphalt patch minimum <br />depth of 8" or the same depth as the original pavement, whichever is greater. The asphalt patch <br />will consist of HMA Base and 1 %" of HMA Surface in accordance with the details shown in the <br />plans. The cost of the pavement removal, restoration, concrete, and asphalt will not be paid for <br />separately but shall be included in the cost of Concrete Curb. <br />7. Where curb is to be removed and replaced adjacent to brick pavement to remain, any brick <br />pavement disturbed during the removal of the curb shall be carefully removed and stockpiled to be <br />reset, as shown in the plans. <br />8. Areas disturbed during the removal and replacement of curb shall be restored in accordance with <br />the plans. If disturbance is outside of the construction limits shown in the plans, the areas shall be <br />restored to original or better condition. All costs associated with this restoration shall be included <br />in the unit price for the concrete curb. <br />9.
