3. Curb outside of the limits of removal as shown in the plans that are damaged by the Contractor <br />shall be removed and replaced to existing or better conditions at the Contractor's expense. <br />4. Where existing curb is to be removed and replaced without replacing the adjacent pavement, the <br />contractor shall saw cut the existing pavement 24" from the face of the curb prior to removal. The <br />area between the proposed curb and existing pavement shall have an asphalt patch minimum <br />depth of 8" or the same depth as the original pavement, whichever is greater. The asphalt patch <br />will consist of HMA Base and 1 '/" of HMA Surface in accordance with the details shown in the <br />plans. The cost of the pavement removal, restoration, concrete, and asphalt will not be paid for <br />separately but shall be included in the cost of Concrete Curb. <br />5. Where curb is to be removed and replaced adjacent to brick pavement to remain, any brick <br />pavement disturbed during the removal of the curb shall be carefully removed and stockpiled to be <br />reset, as shown in the plans. <br />6. Concrete curb and concrete curb and gutter removal will be paid for as Concrete Curb, Remove by <br />the lineal foot at the unit price set forth in the proposal. <br />XXVI. CONCRETE SIDEWALK, REMOVE <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2026, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 202 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The Contractor shall remove concrete sidewalk in areas indicated on plans. All removals shall be <br />saw cut prior to removal. There will be no direct payment for saw cutting but it shall be included in <br />the various removal items. <br />2. Disposal of debris resulting from the removal operations shall be at an off -site area, provided by <br />the Contractor and approved by the Engineer. No debris shall be left on -site overnight. <br />3. Concrete sidewalks outside of the limits of removal as shown in the plans that are damaged by the <br />Contractor shall be removed and replaced to existing or better conditions at the Contractor's <br />expense. <br />4. Removal limits shall be marked by the Contractor for review by City representative. The City will <br />not pay for any removal outside of the approved marked limits without prior authorization by the <br />Owner. <br />5. No stockpiling of removed material that is intended to be removed from the site shall be allowed to <br />remain in the right-of-way overnight. <br />6. Concrete Sidewalk, Remove will be measured by the square yard of pavement removed. <br />7. Concrete Sidewalk, Remove will be paid for at the unit price set forth in the proposal. <br />XXVII. EARTHWORK AND GRADING <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2026, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 203 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. This work shall include all common excavation, grading, and borrow necessary to construct the <br />improvements as shown in the plans. <br />2. Contractor shall re -grade the existing ground south of the proposed sidewalk from approximately <br />14+50 to 15+00 to ensure positive drainage to the southwest. <br />3. The sidewalk shall be constructed on granular material free from deleterious or organic material. <br />It is anticipated that portions of the project will require offsite borrow in order to raise the subgrade <br />to an elevation to construct the sidewalk as shown. The offsite material necessary to construct <br />the sidewalk to grade shall be included in the cost of Earthwork and Grading <br />4. Organic material encountered beneath the existing sidewalk shall be removed and replaced with <br />B Borrow as necessary to provide a suitable subgrade for the sidewalk. <br />5. B Borrow required for over excavation will be measured by the cubic yards of offsite material <br />properly placed and compacted. An undistributed quantity of B Borrow is included in the project <br />in anticipation of over excavation. Contractor shall notify if unsuitable subgrade soil is <br />encountered. The undistributed item will not be paid for unless the material was authorized prior <br />to use. <br />6. B Borrow (Undisturbed) will be paid for at the contract unit price as set forth in the Proposal. <br />Version 9/1/2025 Page - 10 Public Works Quote <br />
