A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Council Member Beck read <br />the resolution and indicated a copy would be sent to the State senate, house of <br />representatives, County Council, and County Commissioners. Council Member Voorde <br />made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Serge. The <br />resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of eight ayes. <br />REPORTS <br />Council Member Voorde indicated that the Zoning and Vacation Committee had met on <br />all the bills on the Agenda. He indicated Bill No. 121 received a favorable <br />recommendation, Bill No. 169 received no recommendation; Bill No. 170 would be <br />continued until January 27, Bill No. 177 received no recommendation and Bill 183 <br />received a favorable recommendation. <br />Council Member Braboy indicated that the Human Resources Committee had met on <br />Resolutions A, B and C and they received favorable recommendations. <br />Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole, <br />seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Committee of the Whole on Monday, January 13, 1986, at 7:32 p.m., with eight members <br />present. Chairman Puzzello presiding. <br />BILL NO. 121 -85 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />1409 -1411 LINDEN AVE., IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Larry Magliozzi, of Area Plan, <br />gave the staff report, which was favorable. Douglas Peirce, registered land <br />surveyor, made the presentation for the bill. He indicated the petitioner was <br />requesting these two properties be rezoned in order that they could be converted for <br />residential purposes. Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to recommend this <br />bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Voorde. The motion <br />carried. <br />BILL NO. 132 -85 <br />Council Member <br />this bill until <br />carried. <br />BILL NO. 169 -85 <br />A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: THE 1ST <br />NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY WEST OF LAUREL STREET RUNNING FROM WESTERN <br />AVENUE TO NAPIER STREET, EXCEPTING THE INTERSECTING EAST -WEST 14' <br />ALLEY FOR A DISTANCE OF 243.56 FEET MORE OR LESS, ALL BEING ON <br />WILLETS SUBDIVISION OF B.O.L. 89 AND DEARDOFFS SUBDIVISION OF <br />B.O.L. 90 AND LYING BETWEEN LOTS 1 AND 10 OF LOTS 6 AND 15 <br />RESPECTIVELY. <br />Taylor made a motion to continue public hearing and second reading on <br />January 27, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. John Oxian, Vice President of <br />Historic Preservation, indicated that president of Lauber's would make the <br />presentation. Howard Schmitt, president of Laubers gave a history of his family and <br />the founding of their sheet metal business. Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion <br />to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Taylor. <br />The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 170 -85 A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: 1ST EAST -WEST <br />ALLEY SOUTH OF DELAWARE STREET RUNNING EAST FROM OLIVE STREET TO <br />PHILLIPA LYING BETWEEN LOTS 259 THRU 264 AND LOTS 277 THRU 282 <br />ALL BEING IN "HIGHLAND PARK 2ND ADD" AND "HIGHLAND PARK 2ND ADD" <br />(UNRECORDED) TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, <br />INDIANA. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to continue public hearing on this bill until <br />January 27, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to continue public hearing on this bill until <br />January 27, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski.
