Page 1 of 1 <br />INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> DIVISION OF ENGINEERING <br />TO: Theresa Heffner, Clerk <br />Board of Public Works <br />FROM: Zach Hurst, PE, Sr. Project Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Ratify Emergency Contract - Project No. 125-030 <br />Emergency Roof Repairs – State Theater <br />DATE: 05/07/2025 <br />On May 1, 2025, the Redevelopment Commission closed on the purchase of the State Theater <br />building located at 212-216 Michigan Street. During the due diligence period for the building <br />purchase, it was discovered that large holes in the roof have allowed significant infiltration of <br />water, causing extensive damage throughout the building. <br />The attached memorandum from Community Investment outlines the issues and the immediate <br />corrective actions required to prevent further deterioration of the building. This emergency work <br />is meant to stabilize the building while a separate project to mothball and preserve the building is <br />planned. <br />In accordance with Indiana Code 36-1-12-9 bids were solicited from Slatile Roofing and <br />Restoration and Dudeck Roofing and Sheet Metal. Vendors were given 72 hours to formulate <br />their prices. Results are as follows: <br />•Slatile Roofing and Restoration:$196,812 <br />•Dudeck Roofing and Sheet Metal: No Bid <br />I recommend award of the Emergency Roof Repairs for State Theater to Slatile Roofing and <br />Restoration, in the amount of $196,812.
