22 <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY INVESTMENT <br />Portage/Elwood <br />In 2024, the City re-engaged with the <br />community to discuss the Portage/Elwood <br />neighborhood vision as the Drewrys site <br />progresses closer to “shovel ready.” The City <br />presented plans for housing and mixed-use <br />development on the site and sought feedback <br />from neighborhood residents. <br />In June, neighbors gather to discuss feedback on the <br />updated Portage/Elwood neighborhood vision. <br />SB Thrive <br />SB Thrive South Bend Heritage ConstrucƟ on Site <br />South Bend Thrive was developed in <br />partnership with South Bend Heritage <br />foundaƟ on. The development is 55% <br />complete with construcƟ on compleƟ on <br />targeted for August 2025. The development <br />has 54 apartments, including 13 permanent <br />supporƟ ve housing units, across 17 mulƟ - <br />family residenƟ al buildings with on-site <br />offi ce for a total of 18 buildings.
