AERESCO , Energy Solutions
m , For Every Need
Ameresco proposes to install comprehensive turnkey rooftop solve PV projects for the City of South Bend at both the
Central Fire Station and MILK Dream Center. As instructed by the RFQ, we have priced these projects independently so that
the City can choose to move forward with only one project. However, we would be able to provide additional value by
bundling them together, with additional sites, or with additional energy conservation measures.
In evaluating pricing for these sites, Ameresco worked to maximize the system size to take advantage of any possible
economies of scale. With the use of optimizers on the panels, we not only comply with rapid shutdown requirements, but
can also increase production of the modules especially in areas that may be partially shaded, allowing larger systems to be
installed. At the MILK Dream Center, we expanded the system to include the southern and northeastern roofs. At the
Central Fire Station, we were able to incorporate the northern roof into the system. We also recommend relocating the
walking path on the south roof of the fire station from the center of the roof to the edge of the roof to allow more panels to
be installed when the roof is replaced this spring/summer. We have included the use of Jinko Eagle JKM540M-72HL-TV
modules with P-type cells which are currently available at very competitive prices to maximize the value to the City. We
anticipate that the systems at the Central Fire Station and the MILK Dream Station would cost $551,000 and $578,000,
respectively.
Central Fire Station MLK Dream Center
Size: 110.2kW-DC Cost: $551,000 Size: 118.8kW-DC Cost: $578,000
Ameresco is able to provide operations and maintenance services that include system monitoring over the life of the
system. Most of our customers find the best value in a preventative maintenance agreement that includes 24/7 monitoring
and an annual preventative maintenance check and inspection of each system with repair and additional troubleshooting
performed on a time and materials basis. This ensures that the system continues to operate to its fullest but that the City
is only paying for the services that it needs. Due to the small system sizes at each of these locations, individual service
contracts would not be very economical. However, Ameresco could provide a service contract for all of the City's
systems including those that are to be built at the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Olive St Water Treatment
Plant, these facilities, as well as existing systems the City has. This would provide economic benefits while also
providing a single source for all things solar maintenance for the City. Based on the bill provided for the Central Fire
Station, the cost for energy is approximately 7.425 cents per kWh. Based on this rate and assuming, these systems will
save $9,868 and $10,881. With further information about the usage profile of the site, additional demand savings could
also be calculated which would be expected to increase the site's overall savings by 10-20%.
City of South Bend, IN I Department of Public Works I RFQ Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract SBCFS & MLK Center 1 7
