FY 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan City of South Bend, IN <br /> Black/African American households were disproportionately affected by a housing cost overburden in St. <br /> Joseph County. Black/African American households were considered to be severely cost burdened,where <br /> 26.3% of the total cases of households were considered cost burdened by greater than 50%. This is over <br /> fourteen percentage points higher than the 11.9%of the total number of households that the Black/African <br /> American category comprises. <br /> A total of 8,445 White households were considered cost burdened by between 30% and 50%, which is <br /> 69.8%of the total cases of households that were considered cost burdened in this category. This number is <br /> below the 80.9% of the total number of households that the White category comprises. A total of 2,304 <br /> Black/African American households were considered cost burdened by between 30% and 50%, which is <br /> 19.0%of the total cases of households that were considered cost burdened by between 30%and 50%. This <br /> number is above the 11.9% of the total number of households that the Black/African American category <br /> comprises,but is not considered disproportionate by HUD's criteria.A total of 189 Asian households were <br /> considered cost burdened by between 30% and 50%, which is 1.6% of the total cases of households that <br /> were considered cost burdened by between 30% and 50%. This number is comparable to the 2.2% of the <br /> total number of households that the Asian category comprises. A total of 120 American Indian/Alaska <br /> Native households are cost burdened between 30%and 50%,which is 1.0%of the total cases of households <br /> that were considered cost burdened between 30%and 50%. This number is slightly above the 0.4%of the <br /> total number of households that the American Indian/Alaska Native category comprises. A total of 869 <br /> Hispanic households were considered cost burdened by between 30%and 50%,which is 7.2%of the total <br /> cases of households that were considered cost burdened by between 30%and 50%.This number is slightly <br /> above the 5.4%of the total number of households that the Hispanic category comprises. <br /> A total of 6,425 White households were considered severely cost burdened by greater than 50%, which is <br /> 62.8% of the total cases of households that were considered cost burdened by greater than 50%. This <br /> number is below the 80.9% of the total number of households that the White category comprises. A total <br /> of 268 Asian households were considered severely cost burdened by greater than 50%, which is 2.6% of <br /> the total cases of households that were considered cost burdened by greater than 50%. This number is <br /> slightly lower than the 2.2%of the total number of households that the Asian population comprises.A total <br /> of 34 American Indian/Alaska Native households are cost burdened between 30%and 50%,which is 0.3% <br /> of the total cases of households that were considered cost burdened between 30%and 50%.This number is <br /> comparable to the 0.4%of the total number of households that the American Indian/Alaska Native category <br /> comprises. A total of 575 Hispanic households were considered severely cost burdened by greater than <br /> 50%,which is 5.6%of the total number of households that were considered cost burdened by greater than <br /> 50%.
