Finally, the Council portion of the hearing takes place in which members will <br /> discuss the bill and vote on its disposition <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> BILL NO. 38-04 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY <br /> LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN <br /> LAND IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP CONTIGUOUS <br /> THEREWITH; HIDDEN CREEK, LLC, 20751 JACKSON <br /> ROAD <br /> Councilmember Kuspa, Chairperson, Zoning and Annexation Committee,reported that <br /> this Committee met this afternoon and it was the consensus of the Committee to send this <br /> bill to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Mr. Bernard Feeney, Registered Land Surveyor, 715 South Michigan Street, South Bend, <br /> Indiana, spoke on behalf of the developer THS Associates,Hidden Creek, LLC. <br /> Mr. Feeney indicated that the petitioner is seeking to build 71 single-family homes. The <br /> parcel is 31.33 acres in size and currently is vacant. The total cost of the project is <br /> estimated to be 13 million dollars. <br /> This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill,proponents <br /> and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> There being on one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br /> opposition to this bill, Councilmember Varner made a motion for favorable <br /> recommendation to full Council concerning this bill. Councilmember Kuspa seconded <br /> the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> BILL NO. 28-04 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY <br /> LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND <br /> AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR <br /> CERTAIN LAND IN GERMAN TOWNSHIP <br /> CONTIGUOUS THEREWITH; STEVE &JEAN <br /> COOREMAN, 21300 BLOCK OF CLEVELAND ROAD <br /> & 52804 LYNNEWOOD AVENUE, SOUTH BEND, <br /> INDIANA <br /> Councilmember Dieter disclosed that he has had prior relationship with the petitioner, <br /> however after further discussion with Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand it has <br /> been determined that no conflict of interest exists. <br /> Councilmember Dieter made a motion to hear the substitute version of this bill. Council <br /> President White seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine(9) ayes. <br /> Councilmember Kuspa, Chairperson, Zoning and Annexation Committee, reported that <br /> this Committee met this afternoon and it was the consensus of the Committee to send this <br /> bill to the full Council with an unfavorable recommendation. <br /> 4 <br />
