Current taxes are$42,000 <br /> and will be estimated at over$346,600 over the length of eight(8)years. The first(1st) year of <br /> the new abatement will accrue $72,674 in taxes. This is a <br /> declaratory resolution for a single-family residential property tax abatement for two vacant lots <br /> that are owned by Cross Community Inc, a nonprofit organization. This group supports <br /> initiatives supporting the Bend's West Side Neighborhoods. Cross Community will build two <br /> brand new homes with an investment of$440,000. They will sell these homes to those who <br /> complete a home buyers'program. The abatement will then be transferred to the new <br /> homeowners after they purchase the new homes. There is a <br /> one hundred dollar($100) current estimated tax for each house, during the five(5) year <br /> abatement, the total estimated taxes are $10,650 and the taxes paid will be $1,650. <br /> Tina Patton, Cross Community Representative, 707 Sherman Drive, South Bend IN 46616, <br /> stated this organization has been around since 2016. The city provides gap financing, and it is a <br /> homeowner's program that teaches people how to manage their finances, credit repair and has a <br /> partnership with multiple banks. Once they complete the program these banks will give the <br /> mortgages for the homes. They have purchased multiple lots and will redevelop the community. <br /> They want to make sure that homeowners can have a legacy for themselves. <br /> Council President Sharon McBride opened the floor to Councilmembers for any questions or <br /> comments. <br />
