SECTION 15140 <br />SUPPORTS AND ANCHORS <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.1 SCOPE <br />A. Provide all hangers, supports and anchors in accordance with the following, unless <br />otherwise indicated or detailed. <br />B. Support systems shall be designed to allow for required pipe expansion and system <br />movement. <br />. <br />PART 2: PRODUCTS <br />2.1 HANGERS AND SUPPORTS <br />A. Provide hangers and supports for all pieces of mechanical equipment and piping as <br />indicated or detailed. Grinnell, F & S, Uni-Strut or equal. <br />The equipment loads shall be supported from the building structural system only at panel <br />points, refer to structural drawings and details. Hangers shall be of adequate size to <br />allow pipe insulation to run continuous through hanger. <br />B. For piping run near floor: Pipe standards with base flanges and adjustable top yokes. <br />Piping close to walls: Special wrought brackets of approved design. Piping in bar-joist: <br />bulb rail clamp or beam clamp of approved design. All other piping: Heavy forged steel <br />adjustable hanger of approved design. <br />C. Provide approved rollers for hangers and supports for all hot water supply and return <br />piping mains 4 inches and larger. <br />D. Where necessary, because of vibration or to prevent lifting due to expansion, provide <br />spring suspension hangers of approved design. <br />E. All hangers and supports shall provide for two inches (2") of vertical adjustment. <br />F. Provide insulated piping at hangers and supports with shields, Elcen #240 or approved <br />equal. Where used in conjunction with rollers, shields shall be provided with maximum <br />rib spacing to allow proper movement. Pipe insulation will run continuous through <br />hangers. Coordinate as required. <br />2.2 ANCHORS <br />A. Anchor horizontal piping where indicated and wherever necessary to localize expansion <br />to prevent undue strain on branches. Anchors: Heavy forged construction, entirely <br />separate from supports. <br />15140 - 1
