SECTION 15050 <br />BASIC MATERIALS AND METHODS <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.1 SCOPE <br />A. This section of the Specifications is intended to describe basic materials and methods to <br />be used for complete installation of the Work. Refer also to individual sections of these <br />Specifications and to the Drawings for detailed descriptions of systems. <br />PART 2: PRODUCTS <br />2.1 MATERIALS <br />A. All materials shall be new, first quality and free from defects. Where applicable, <br />products shall bare the manufacturers name or trademark, model number, serial number <br />and in the case of piping, wiring and associated items shall bare the nationally <br />recognized Standard for design (i.e. ASTM A53). <br />2.2 PIPE LABELS <br />A. Labels as approved by Engineer, complete with flow arrows. Labels shall be self <br />adhering type with colors, system designation and sizes as recommended by <br />manufacturer. <br />1. Acceptable Manufacturers: <br />a. Seton <br />b. Brimar <br />c. Electromark <br />d. Or approved equal <br />B. Pipe services shall include, but not be limited to: <br />1. Domestic Cold <br />2. Domestic Cold (Soft) <br />2.3 SLEEVES AND FIRESTOPPING <br />A. Provide fire caulk/sealer at all fire rated walls and draft stops and all penetrations in <br />accordance with UL requirements. Contractor making penetration shall be responsible <br />for sleeving and fire caulking/sealing. Contractor shall be responsible for the proper <br />sizing of the sleeves and core drilled holes so that they are at least 1 ½ inch larger in <br />diameter than the penetrating item or as specifically required by the fire stopping system <br />being utilized. Sleeves and core-drilled holes made excessively large or made and not <br />used shall be firestopped. <br />15050 - 1
