Contractor shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, <br />ordinances, rules and regulations (including the Occupational Safety and Health <br />Act and the regulations issued thereunder). <br /> <br />C. Contractor's Responsibilities <br /> <br />1. The Contractor is solely responsible for the health, safety, and protection of its <br />on-site personnel during the performance of the work. The Contractor shall <br />perform the work specified in these contract documents in accordance with the <br />Health and Safety Requirements specified herein. It shall be the responsibility of <br />the Contractor to be familiar with the required health and safety regulations in the <br />performance of this work. <br /> <br />2. The Contractor shall have a working knowledge of federal and state <br />occupational safety and health regulations. <br /> <br />3. Should any unforeseen or site-specific safety related factor, hazard, or condition <br />become evident during the performance of the work, the Contractor shall take <br />immediate action to establish and maintain safe working conditions and to <br />safeguard site personnel, the public, and the environment. The Contractor shall <br />also immediately inform the Engineer of such a condition. <br /> <br />D. Work Areas <br /> <br />1. The Contractor shall clearly lay out and identify work areas or zones and shall <br />limit equipment, operations and personnel access in the areas as described below. <br /> <br />E. Housekeeping <br /> <br />1. All work wash areas shall be maintained in a well kept and tidy condition. <br />Particular attention must be paid to work in public areas with potential access by <br />vehicles or pedestrians. Road and walkways must be kept clear as possible. <br />Cones or caution tape should be used to demarcate work areas and danger zones. <br /> <br />1.7 MAINTENANCE AND REMOVAL <br /> <br />A. Maintain temporary facilities and controls as long as needed for safe and proper <br />completion of the Work. <br /> <br />B. Remove such temporary facilities and controls as rapidly as progress of the Work will <br />permit, or as directed by the Engineer or Owner's Representative. <br /> <br />C. The Contractor shall adequately protect the work, adjacent property and the public and <br />shall be responsible for any damage or injury due to his act or neglect. <br />
