REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 22, 2012 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Olive/Sample Overpass represents a large complex transportation <br />infrastructure project. He stated that they have been approached by the County Engineer, as you <br />know the county has the responsibility over bridge structures, overpasses, underpasses, etc. All <br />the bridge money goes to the county. However, this is beyond what the county can tackle. It <br />requires collaboration on some of the design work, right-of-way work, the local match for <br />construction and have formed an inter-local between the Board of Public Works and the County <br />Commissioners to do this project together seeking 80% federal funds. He stated that they will <br />invest 2 million dollars of city money, the county will invest 2 million dollars and bring 10 <br />million of federal funds into this project. Overall, this is a 14 million dollar project beyond the <br />ability of the county or scope of the city to do alone. He stated that our work through <br />collaboration this important piece of transportation infrastructure on the west side to continue to <br />serve. <br />Mr. Mecham that the city was approached by the county to help out with the Olive/Sample <br />overpass. He stated that if anyone has driven on it lately, it is in very bad condition. He stated <br />that this is located in an industrial area and it is extremely important to keep transportation areas <br />in our industrial areas in good condition. Mr. Mecham referred to the power-point to go over the <br />reconstruction of the overpass. (A copy of the power-point presentation is on file in the Office of <br />the City Clerk. <br /> <br />RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />At 7:50 p.m. Councilmember Oliver J. Davis made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the <br />Whole. Councilmember Schey seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) <br />ayes.
