Gravel drive
At the time of purchase
There was a stamped concrete section of drive beside the corn crib. It
led nowhere, however there was an additional concrete drive beyond
the crib. This was a low, shaded area collected a lot of water after rains
and didn't fill in well with grass. As well, it made for difficult passage
for our lawn tractor.
Vision
Our initial thoughts were two -fold. In considering having events like
weddings at the home, we thought it ideal to have cars park in the
pasture. Additionally, we considered linking the two concrete drives
by adding a gravel section between them. Ultimately we elected to just
make the gravel drive straight to the edge of the pasture. The top soil
that was cleared in making this section was the topsoil used to surface
the green space discussed earlier.
Process
Bobcat work preeminated for several weeks last year, and it became
logical to combine its uses as much as possible. Many of the barn pit,
retaining wall and other yard work were done in concert with each
other.
