_ Director's Report December,2009 November 17 Participated in the Green Ribbon Commission's Land Use and Green Building Committee tour and presentation at the Good Shepherd Montessori School. Presented at the Area Plan Commission's meeting concerning the land -marked Bauer property and the moving of the buildings and that the COA necessitated HPC approval of the new site plan prior to any move. November 18 Contacted Marti Orr, Forester at I&M concerning the tree work in the West North Shore District to set up meeting with her and Jeremy Young of Asplundh about procedures for work in historic districts and the locations of the districts and the Iandmaxks. November 19 Met with Dina Harris, Director of Development; Professor Alfred Guillaume, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Kevin James of IUSB at the Natatorium about the possibility of land -marking the building. Under criteria #1 for its role in racial segregation/desegregation as well as the health movement in Indiana that promoted swimming and #2 as an excellent example of Neo -Classical designed public building and its adapted re -use as a Civil Right Museum. Toured 307 La Monte with prospective buyers and Wayne Doolittle. Provided Kessler information for the Bowman Creek Project to Geri Hathaway. November 23 Personal Day. Spoke will Jeremy Young on cell phone from Ann Arbor and agreed to meet with him and Marti after the Thanksgiving Holiday. November 24 Meeting with Phil St. Claire, Mike Dyszkiewicz, Martha Lewis and myself about the Botanical Conservatories at Potawatomi.Park in 2010. There will be some City funding available to support the work of the all Volunteer work force and the Notre Dame heating project. Completed the final details for the CLG Reports of South Bend and St. Joseph County for DHPA. Presented at the County Council Committee meeting for HPC Office's Out -of -line transfer requests. They were sent to the County Council with a favorable recommendation. November 25 Finalized the drafts of the CLG Reports and e-mailed reports to Steve Kennedy and Malia Varnerman. Mailed hard copies with non electronic information to arrive by November 30 deadline. November 26 and 27 Office closed for Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend November 30 Met with Jeremy Young and Marti Orr'and provided them with reaps of local historic, districts, addresses of city and county landmarks and copies of all district standards. They agreed to continue to work -with Brent Thompson and HPC when it came to "trimming" electrical lines using as the model the procedures used for Chapin Park in the summer 2009. Met with Geri Hathaway concerning Innovation Park, IvyTech and the possibility of instituting preservation trades in the high schools or at one of the - vocational/tech schools.
