Remove lap <br />siding from rear elevation and install rigid insulation and new Hardie lap siding to match the <br />original (clapboard) siding. New exterior trim work fitting for the Queen Anne style. Replace <br />deteriorated sliding garage doors with (2) paneled garage doors. See other notes on plan. <br />DISCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: <br />The owner /petitioner, Tony Bajuyo will be the contractor for this project which includes: <br />1. Building a new wood 20' 1" wide wood deck projecting 11' 1" from the rear of the <br />house. {Exhibit A }. To create access to the deck, 8'9" tall x 6' wide French doors will be <br />added to the rear of the house. Reliabilt Doors and Windows is the manufacturer <br />{Exhibit B }. The window that will be removed for the installation of the doors will be <br />stored by the homeowner. The transom will be built and installed by the homeowner. A <br />small porch canopy, extending 4'4" from the rear of the house will be added over the <br />doors. Trim work, appropriate to the Queen Anne style, is also part of the canopy design. <br />(Exhibit A) The deck will also adjoin the enclosed and deteriorating back porch (non - <br />original, see list of alterations/Exhibit C) of the house resulting in the addition of (4) new <br />aluminum clad interior Pella-windows, _ and _thesemoval_of_ one .non- original <br />melamine door (sample or brochure not provided). <br />2. Removal of chain link fence surrounding back yard, replaced by wooden French gothic <br />open picket fence at a height of 48" around yard and 60" at garage {Exhibits D and E). <br />3. Removal of cedar shingle and lap siding from rear elevation. Installation of rigid <br />insulation and new HardiePlank® Lap Siding to match the original siding. (Sample or <br />brochure not provided.) Addition of new exterior trim work appropriate to the Queen <br />Anne style. (Exhibit E) <br />4. Replacement of deteriorated sliding garage doors {Exhibit F} with Thermacore® 2 <br />paneled white 7' x 7' doors, with "Full Vision" window panels (Exhibit G }. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />Portions of each standard and guideline relevant to this application appears in bold italic print. <br />III. NEW CONSTRUCTION <br />New construction includes any new building or structure constructed within the boundaries of the <br />historic district, or any new addition to an existing building. New construction should be <br />designed considering the appearance of the other buildings in the neighborhood. <br />A. HEIGHT AND PROPORTION <br />The majority of structures in the district are two stories high and are square, rectangular, or <br />irregular in plan. There are a few story- and -a -half residences. The prevalent facade proportions <br />are between a 1:1 and a 1:2 height -to -width ratio. <br />Required <br />The height of a new structure and its height -to -width proportions shall be consistent with adjacent <br />buildings in the district. The building height shall be no greater than that of the tallest existing <br />structure and no less than that of the lowest existing structure of the same type in the same block. <br />Facade proportions shall be established by permitting no structure with a facade wider or <br />narrower than those existing in the same block. Additions to existing buildings shall be related <br />in height and proportion to the existing structure. <br />Recommended <br />Contemporary designs should be compatible in character and mood to the building or <br />neighborhood. <br />Prohibited <br />E:3 <br />
