WPA river wall had passed the state review board; a letter from John Strauss, of the South Bend <br />School Corporation, noting that the bids for the demolition of Lincoln School will be determined on <br />March 6th and the Commission can then negotiate with the demolition contractor/s; correspondence <br />from Alderwoods via May Oberfell Lorber that Alderwoods has decided to proceed with an appeal; <br />and thank -you notes from the East Wayne Street liaisons to Catherine for her presentation on the C of <br />A process. - <br />2. Director's Report (included in the HPC meeting binder) <br />Catherine passed out a listing of meetings and events the staff had attended to reflect the progress of <br />the office and announced that the Notre Dame School of Architecture is having a lecture on ancient <br />Greek architecture. <br />3. Assistant Director's Report: Julie Schutte had nothing new to report. <br />4. Legal: There was no legal report as Shawn was absent due to illness. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS <br />1. LWW [sic] and Taylor's Field printed and delivered; Chapin Park Final Draft at Printers. <br />Julie Schutte reported that the Lincolnway East and TayIor's Field guideline books had arrived from <br />the printer and shall be delivered soon. A final proof for Chapin Park should arrive by the end of the <br />week with the delivery occurring by the middle of March. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS <br />1. Southhold Awards Committee Meeting <br />The Committee meeting was seffor Thursday, March 2"d at 5 pm in the Commission offices. <br />2. Marquette School <br />The Commission discussed the future of Marquette School and the possibility of placing it under <br />interim protection. The building's connection to the Public Works Administration (PWA) was <br />highlighted. It was also noted that the South Bend School Board may be voting on a bundle of <br />projects for a new bond issue, which would include the bond for the destruction of Marquette School. <br />Lynn Patrick: I move to place interim protection to Marquette School with the appropriate measures <br />to be followed. Timothy Klusczinski seconded the motion. There was some discussion about what <br />would be included in the letter and how it would be mailed to the School Corporation at the <br />appropriate time. The motion passed unanimously, 5-0. <br />V. HEARING OF VISITORS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />Mary Jane Chase reported on the potential changes Gov. Daniels' plan to privatize food production for <br />welfare and shelter programs might have on South Bend and the South Gateway area. She also submitted <br />a name for the Commission's Advisory Board. <br />VI. ADJOURNMENT <br />Lynn Patrick moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 pm. Catherine Hostetler seconded the motion and all <br />were thrilled to end a meeting before 9. p.m. <br />
