Near Northwes <br />Neighborhood <br />INCORPORATED i <br />December 7, 2005 <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />County -City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: 508 Lindsey Street, Certificate of Appropriateness <br />Commissioners: <br />The Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc. respectfully requests approval from the Historic <br />Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County to rehabilitate the <br />residential structure commonly known as 508-508 % Lindsey Street as outlined in the <br />attached project plan. The revitalization effort will return this "American Four Square" <br />multi -family residential structure to a single-family dwelling. <br />In a separate application, the Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc. seeks permission to <br />raze the two-story rear addition. The removal of the rear addition will provide numerous <br />benefits to the surrounding area including a reduction in mass on a city lot and additional <br />rear and side yard green -space for the occupied residence. <br />The extensive rehabilitation will include complete renovation of both the interior and <br />exterior structure with marketable conveniences for future sale. The renovation addresses <br />all aspects of residential code compliance with special attention to period restoration <br />when practical.
