STAFF REPORTS
KAREN HAMMOND NASH: On Certificates of Appropriateness approvals there actually have
not been too many. I did approve a removal of a very large maple tree on River Avenue in
Edgewater. The tree looks to be perfectly healthy; but, the forester reports that it has been struck by
lightning and it has suffered wind damage and needs to be removed.
The correspondence that I have already described relates to Edgewater Drive along the
riverbank, regarding the ten inch mulberry tree and flowering lilacs that have been cut down.
I received correspondence from the Wayne Street Liaison Committee thanking the
maintenance man from the parks department for the restoration of the boulders.
As you have instructed I attended the River Park Neighborhood meeting and updated them on
the partial restoration of the automobile club shelter. They made a motion to submit two separate
resolutions to the parks department. One was to express gratitude for the restoration work. The
second one was to express that the construction of the core of the building be reconsidered.
• We have received a proof for the West Northshore Guideline Booklets. Whenever the District
Committee -wants to reviewthemthey are available.
We received a request from the Wayne Street Liaison Committee that either the full committee
or the district committee have a meeting with the Liaison Committee regarding the interpretation of
the present standards, and whether there ought to be any modifications.
D. COMMITTEE REPORTS
1.
