If they are going to take the boards off the windows, then they either use a type <br />of wire mess to cover the original glass that is there or replace the original <br />glass with lexon. Make sure that the mess or the lexon is securely installed so <br />that it cannot be kicked in or damaged in any way. <br />JOANN SPORLEDER: I would like to suggest that they put in the screening and soffits <br />in some appropriate measure all the way around the garage for ventilation so that rotting <br />does not reoccur. <br />JOHN OXIAN: I would like to amend my motion to include Joann's recommendation <br />that the screens and soffits be installed to stop rotting from reoccurring. <br />GERALD UJDAK: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously. <br />B. HEARING OF VISITORS <br />CONNIE ZIEGLER: (Representative for Weintraut & Associates Historians, Inc.). <br />We are doing an historical impact study for the US 31 changes in St. Joseph and <br />Marshall County. I am not here so much as to report; but, to ask you questions and try <br />and answer any questions that you might have regarding this study. <br />A lengthy discussion was then held between Connie Ziegler and commission <br />members regarding the historical study that is being done. Commission members <br />expressed the following concerns: <br />1. Crofoot farm, which is a local landmark <br />2. Houses and cemeteries along existing US31 <br />3. Sumption Prairie <br />4. The ten of routes that are being proposed. <br />5. Will they also be including incorporated areas into their study. <br />6. Whether they have used the map that was published by McDonalds that locates <br />fairly well the structures and farms all over the county that we thought were <br />significant. <br />8. Whether they have considered the historic hedge rows that are located on <br />farms in the county <br />9. What the east -west span is for all of these proposed routes. <br />LAURIE JOHNSON: (P.E. representative for the St. Joseph County Engineering <br />Department). Part of that C. of A. included replacement of the <br />existing rail with what we call a, (Texas T -railing), which is shown in one of the <br />photographs that has been handed out to you.
