PROPOSED CHANGE <br />Applicant is proposing to change the pitch of a small rear flat roof to roughly a 3/12 pitch <br />to stop the deterioration which is caused by snow and rain which is held against the roof and the <br />first vertical intersection of the second floor addition. The moisture problems are also causing <br />rot and ants. <br />The applicant also wishes to change the pitch of the second floor addition to conform to <br />the same pitch as the rest of the home tieing this into the original second floor as indicated in the <br />photographs. This will them conform all additions to the pitch and roof line angles of the <br />original house. <br />STANDARDS <br />Preservation Guidelines for Riverside Drive Historic District: <br />b) .... the guidelines for the Riverside Drive District follow the Rehabilitation model <br />Roofs & Roofing: <br />Required: Original roof shapes shall be retained. <br />Prohibited: Nothing shall be dome to change the roof as viewed from the <br />thoroughfare. <br />New Construction: <br />Required: Additions shall be in height and proportion to the existing structure. <br />Prohibited; Changes to the facade in height may not be constructed. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Based upon the Guidelines for this Local Historic District, we find there to be no reason <br />to deny this application. <br />
