MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Monthly Meeting <br />7:30 p.m. <br />Monday August 17, 1998 <br />County Commissioner's <br />Conference Room <br />7th Floor County -City Building <br />1. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: Martha Choitz, John Oxian, Joann Sporleder, Edward <br />Talley, Catherine Hostetler and Janeanne Petrass. <br />Commission staff present was: David Duvall, director, Rhonda Saunders, administrative <br />-assistant, and Aladean DeRose, consul. <br />Also attending the meeting were: Ron Farr,'Chris Michal 0*s, Tom Colip,'Gina DeLaruelle, Tina <br />Stanton, Chip Lewis, Linda Riley, Mary Ann Mathews, Linda Fritschner, Julia DesLauriers, <br />Carl Littrell and Don Sporleder. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificate of Appropriateness Applications <br />1. 1998-0707 - 735 Bronson, installation of window. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs.He noted that the owner, Ron <br />Farr, was present. There was some discussion over which wall the window was to go in and <br />what type of window was being proposed. Mr. Oxian asked how Mr. Farr knew that a window <br />had previously existed in the proposed location. Mr. Farr stated that he saw a window there <br />before the owner closed it over and sided the house. Mrs. Sporleder asked if the window would <br />have the same sill location as the existing front window. Mr. Farr stated that it would be <br />exactly same as the front window in size, style, and location. Mr. Talley moved to approve the <br />application as recommended by staff with the amendment that the window have the same sill <br />placement as the existing front window. Mrs. Hostetler seconded the motion. The motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />2. 1998-0715 - 830 N. Michigan, alterations to the North Pumping Station. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He noted that Chris Michalos, <br />was present in behave of Water Works. Mr. Michalos went over each individual drawing in <br />great detail. There was a lot of discussion over where pipes were going, what parts of the park <br />were affected, and if it would interfere with any future archaeological surveys. There was also a <br />discussion over the emergency over flow pipe and its visibility from the park and the <br />thoroughfare. <br />
