• MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Monthly Meeting County Commissioner's <br />7:30 p.m. Conference Room <br />Monday August 18, 1997 7th Floor County -City <br />Building <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 <br />p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: John Borkowski, Adrian Fine, Catherine <br />Hostetler, John Oxian, Janeanne Petrass, Joann Sporleder, Jerry Wiener, Martha <br />Choitz and Aladean DeRose. <br />Commission staff present was: 'David Duvall, director and Rhonda Saunders, <br />administrative assistant. <br />Also attending the meeting were: Brian Crumlish, John & Donna, Freidline, Don <br />Sporleder, Julia Des Lauriers, Linda Fritschner and Robert Roland. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificates of Appropriateness <br />1) 1997-0723, 1615 East Wayne St.- window replacement <br />Mr. Oxian announced that this application would be tabled until Monday, August <br />25, 1997. There was no motion. <br />2) 1997-0806, 1120 East Jefferson - Install brick piers 'at front sidewalk <br />entry. ' <br />Mr. Duvall presented the Staff Report and distributed photographs. Mr. Duvall <br />then indicated that the applicants, John and Donna Freidline were present. <br />There was some discussion by Mr. Duvall to clarify where the piers were going <br />and their style and size. Mr. Oxian asked if the applicants had anything they <br />would like to add to the discussion. John Freidline stated that they felt <br />they had done their homework in choosing a style that would compliment their <br />house, that the limestone cap matched the window sill and that the urns <br />would compliment the urn motif in the houses shutters. Mr. Oxian asked for <br />any further questions. Martha Choitz moved to have the application approved <br />as submitted. John Borkowski seconded the motion. Joann Sporleder asked the <br />applicants.if they were going to put any piers at the end of the driveway. The <br />applicants replied that they were not going to for certain safety reasons. <br />The motion passed unanimously. <br />3) 1997-0806-3 - 1091 Riverside Drive - Remove a cement walkway that lines the. <br />driveway and replace it with brick to match the driveway. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He noted <br />that the applicant was .present. Catherine Hostetler moved to approve the <br />application as proposed. Janeanne Petrass seconded the motion. The motion <br />passed unanimously. John Oxian noted that the history for this application <br />• was not complete. He suggested that the date the current owner purchased the <br />property should be included into the history of the property. Mr: Oxian <br />further stated that it is important for the commission members to know how <br />long the applicant has owned the house, because it can affect a members <br />vote. Mr. Duvall noted that the staff could add this information if there was <br />time to do the title search. There was some discussion as to how to find the <br />
