• Mr. Oxian reported the following status of the recommendations for <br />designation: <br />1) 501 West Colfax - this recommendation is stili. tabled. <br />2) Leeper Park - Leeper Park is tabled. A meeting to tour the, park with <br />Council members is scheduled for Thursday September 19. <br />Mr. Duvall reported that the Brick Streets Local Landmark recommendation was <br />nearly ready to submittal, needing only to have a' cover letter composed and <br />delivery. <br />Mr. Talley reported on the preparations for the dedication of WPA House at <br />16581 Chandler Blvd. This.will occur at 10:00 a.m. on October 26. There was <br />discussion about the invited dignitaries. <br />5. Standards & Maintenance <br />Mr. Fine indicated that the committee had met to review the North Pumping <br />Station landscaping plans and made recommendations for criteria to revise the <br />design. A revised design had been received which met these criteria and a COA <br />issued. <br />6. Personnel <br />Mr. Duvall introduced the commission's new Administrative Assistant, Melody <br />VanZant. Mr. Talley noted that most of the immediately identified tasks had <br />been accomplished and wondered whether new designated responsibilities were <br />called for. Mr. Duvall indicated that he was training her on the routine <br />office operations such as supply management,. preparation of COAs, preparation <br />of Staff Reports, and the regular database search activities for environmental <br />review of CDBG activities and code enforcement actions. When not doing these <br />activities, she is doing continuing data entry regarding the St. Casimir's <br />.National Register re -survey. Reproduction of additional Guidelines books was <br />discussed for the upcoming neighborhood meetings. Mrs. Choitz noted that the <br />order in which the districts were to be addressed had not yet been determined. <br />She cautioned. that it would be wasteful to print too many copies of the <br />existing books as they are likely to be revised soon. Mrs. Sporleder asked if <br />the district standards were in the computer. Mr. Duvall indicated that only <br />the last standards developed for River Bend LHD were on the hard disk but that <br />the other books were probably stored to floppy disk somewhere. Original hard <br />_copy for all books are in the file. <br />E. Staff Reports <br />1) Staff Approvals <br />Mr. Duvall reported the following C of A Staff approvals: <br />1059 Riverside Drive - In-kind replacement of landscaping. <br />2) DHPA Grants <br />a) Regarding the DHPA Grant status, Mr. Duvall reported that the status of the <br />1995-96 was essentially unchanged, the National Register nominations being <br />completed. and submitted and the elaboration of Che conclusions for the <br />Economic Benefits Study being outstanding. He had discussed the situation with <br />Bernie Dietrich of the Appraisal Group who was taking charge to see that the <br />work is.completed. <br />b) The mandatory site visit by DHPA Staff before issuing RFPs for work in the <br />1996-1997 grant cycle had finally occurred the previous Tuesday. The letter <br />from the SHPO approving release of the RFP is anticipated soon. Mr. Talley <br />asked if we would be advertising for preparation of a preservation plan for <br />Leeper Park. Mr. Duvall stated that will advertise. for the National Register <br />Nomination for the park leading to subsequent preservation planning activities <br />
