I <br />• this possibility. <br />Mr. Oxian indicated that the Local Historic Districts should be re -surveyed, <br />especially regarding the ratings of the buildings. Mr. Duvall suggested that <br />keeping this work in house would be advisable. <br />3.. Legal <br />Mrs. DeRose had no additional report beyond the issues discussed above. <br />V. Old Business <br />Mrs. Choitz suggested that some fund-raising activities'should be pursued. Mr. <br />Oxian suggested that after the fall election, exploration of new funding <br />sources may be more effective. <br />The issue of South Bend Schools was discussed with the general conclusion that <br />all eligibly rated public school buildings should eventually be established as <br />Landmarks but that they should be individually nominated. Mr. Oxian indicated, <br />that the Landmarks Committee would meet during the coming month to consider <br />the priority of these nominations. <br />VI. New Business <br />No new business was considered. <br />VII. Hearing of Visitors <br />Mr. Sporleder next addressed the commission on his concern for the landscape <br />feature commonly known as the Blake Gardens which lay behind the recently <br />demolished Howard Johnson Motor Lodge at'.Cleveland Road and Dixie Way. This <br />parcel has been recently submitted for development to the Area Plan <br />Commission requesting plan approval for development of two hotels and two <br />restaurants. The proposed plan indicates the intention to fill significant <br />areas along Juday Creek which would entail covering the gardens area. He noted <br />that this area is adjacent to abandoned rail right-of-way which probably will <br />eventually be developed for bike/pedestrian transit. This area could <br />constitute a park amenity for this trail. <br />VIII. Announcements & Miscellaneous Matters <br />none <br />IX.
