A. 221 West North Shore Drive <br />Mr. Fine reported that the Standards & Maintenance Committee has met to review <br />the items referred to it for this COA. Their decision was to allow the <br />skylight but that the replacement door at the east side was inappropriate for <br />the Mission style of the house. They recommended either replacing this door or <br />installing a mode appropriate screen door over it. The committee report was <br />seconded by Fr. Bullene. The commission unanimously approved this <br />recommendation. <br />B. Mr. Fine also presented their committee proposals for future work: <br />1. Review of existing Preservation Guidelines in cooperation with the <br />Districts Committee <br />2. Study of other communities to refine the minimum maintenance standards. <br />3. Cultivate more cooperation with the Division of Code Enforcement. <br />4. Continue active involvement with problematic COA applications. <br />C. Mr. Talley initiated discussion regarding reformatting of standards and <br />guidelines according to a more obvious outline form which would be uniform for <br />all locations. Mrs. Choitz indicated that the neighborhoods would need to <br />ratify changes of substance and cautioned against spending time resources to <br />reformat regulations which require substantive revision. <br />6. Personnel <br />Mr. Duvall noted that there has been an IUSB intern in the office for the past <br />two Mondays and that she has bee working on the research for the St. Casimir <br />District National Register nomination. <br />Mr. Duvall reported that he had completed interviewing applicants for the <br />part-time Administrative Assistants position who have responded to the <br />advertisement in the Southhold Newsletter. He noted that he had discussed CDBG <br />funding release with Beth Leonard of Economic Development and had little <br />confidence of receiving the funding necessary for hiring an assistant. <br />E. Staff Reports <br />1. Mr. Duvall reported the following C of A Staff Approvals: <br />a. 24845 SR 23 - Ruple Homestead Staff approved in-kind replacement of wood <br />members at a corn crib. <br />b. 510 River Avenue - Roofing replacement. <br />2. DHPA Grant status <br />a.National Register nominations: <br />Mr. Duvall reported that the recommendation for the Studebaker Carpentry shop <br />had been forwarded to the SHPO for placement on the State Review Board's <br />agenda. The completed nominations for the North Pump Station and the Northern <br />Indiana College/South Bend Chilled Plow nominations have been received by our <br />office and are in the review process. Work had proceeded in completing the St <br />Casimir's Parish District nomination. <br />b. Economic Benefits <br />The Appraisal Group <br />reported reviewing <br />indicated that the f <br />meeting. <br />3. Legal <br />Mr. Duvall reported <br />Pump Station has <br />consideration by the <br />Study <br />ias completed approximately 80% of their work.
