t <br />DHPA Grant Cycle 1995 <br />9-28-94 <br />PROPOSAL SUMMARY <br />Project: Economic Benefits of Historic Preservation in South Bend, Indiana <br />DHPA Priority Area: Architectural/Historical <br />Project Description: <br />The proposed project would utilize the methodology developed by the Center for <br />Preservation Policy Studies in cooperation with the Government Finance <br />Research Center of the Government Finance Officers Association to assess the <br />impact of historic designation on construction, real estate, and commercial <br />activities in South Bend, Indiana. The project will include the publication of <br />a short report summarizing the conclusions of the study for the use of <br />developers, real estate professionals, preservation activists, government <br />officials and agencies, and the general public. <br />Comments: <br />The methodology to be employed has been published. A copy which includes <br />various worksheets, tables, and instruction is available for review at the <br />office of the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend, Indiana. In <br />addition to the statistical research and analysis required, a summary report <br />will be required which may be distributed to the lay -public.
