Cole Associates had requested a list of
proposals from the HPC re. what to do with
the bridge.
g. School Demolitions. Mr. Oxian said he had
gotten many calls asking about the
possibilities of landmarking schools in
danger of demolition. He has kept a record
of them all, but will not proceed further
until he gets a reply to a letter he sent
10 days previously to the Supt. of Schools,
asking for his opinion re. landmarking
these schools.
Mr. Oxian then suggested choosing Jefferson,
Nuner, Monroe, and Riley as landmark
candidates. Mrs. Sporleder asked that
Madison school be included in this list, and
urged an immediate first reading on this
mattter.
h. Maintenance of Oliver and Central. Mrs.
Choitz questioned whether any maintenance
was being done on these structures; Mr.
Oxian said it was minimal to nonexistent.
He suggested applying the new maintenance
ordinance to these buildings.
i. Robertson's and Central. Mrs. Petrass
questioned the purpose of the proposed trade
of Robertson's for Central. Mr. Welsheimer
explained that the school corporation wanted
to place its administrative offices there,
at an estimated cost of $8 million (estimate
provided by Troyer). The city is contem-
plating a variety of plans for Central,
including placing Ron Manigo's employment
training program there.
6. Public Relations and Community Education.
No report.
7. Personnel.
a. Mrs. Dixon announced her resignation,
saying she could no longer continue the
long commute to work, and stating that
her new duties on her husband's radio
station had become more than she had
anticipated. She has volunteered to act as
a consultant. Mrs. Choitz commended Mrs.
Dixon for all her hard work.
Mr. Welsheimer moved to accept the
resignation: Mr. Eide seconded.
8.
