December 31, 1990 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />Marzy J. Bauer <br />1426 E. Wayne <br />South Bend, IN 46615 <br />PROPOSAL <br />Part I. In-kind replacement of asphalt shingle roofing. <br />Part IA. Add ridge vents to ventilate attic space. (see attached <br />spec.) <br />Part 1B. Tuck point existing brick chimney. <br />Part II. Install two dormers at the west side of gable roof. <br />Dormers will be in line with existing west facade composition. <br />Cladding will be wood bevel siding to match siding at rear of <br />structure. Windows will be clad wood to match existing. Dormers <br />will have gable shape. <br />Part iii. install window in gable peak of rear elevation as per <br />drawing. <br />Part IIIA. Remove existing grill from gable peak, rear elevation. <br />Part IV. Replace original attic level arched 4/4 double hung <br />sashes (front and east elevations) with aluminum clad wood sashes <br />similar in shape to original. This phase of the proposed <br />renovation is to be executed at a later date than the above. <br />Client plans to specify EAGLE brand sashes. <br />STANDARDS. <br />II . A. This can <br />cause deterioration as a result of the differing <br />coefficient of expansion and the differing porosity_of <br />- - - the material and the mortar which can result in serious <br />damage to adjacent brick. <br />4) Not.Recommended <br />Mortar joints that do not need repointing should not be <br />repointed. <br />B.
