APPENDIX "C" /12-85\
MEETING REPORT
SURVEY UPDATE MEETING
DECEMBER 3, 1985
11:00 a.m. - 1:30 P.M.
MACOG Conference Room, County -City Building
RE: Update of South Bend Survey and State Requirements
Attending: Dick Gantz, State Historic Preservation Office
Nancy Long, State Historic Preservation Office
Lisbeth Henning, HLFI
Joanne Sporleder, HPC
John Oxian, HPC
Karen Kiemnec, HPC
Elizabeth Straw, HPC
The meeting was called to help clarify the state's requirements for
the survey update. Dick Gantz explained that for any update project
that used state grant monies, all survey information must be on the
State Inventory forms. Although South Bend's and St. Joseph County's
survey cards are fine in their present state, they do not conform to
the state forms and are difficult to use for those not familiar with
them. The concern of having two systems of filing survey information
was voiced, and Mr. Gantz stated that a project of record management,
i.e. transfering all information to the state forms, would be a
fundable grant under the Survey Grants abailable at a 70/30 match. Mr
Gantz indicated that the project could be done in phases and that
funding could include a publication* and two sets of photographs and
negatives.
As a result of the meeting it will be necessary for the Historic
Preservation Commission to use the state forms for all additions and
corrections on the city inventory sent to the SHPO. It was also
decided that the present numbering system would continue to be used,
however, the order of the numbers would be change to the following
system: County Number, USGS Number, Structure Number, i.e.
141-597-46055.
*Alan Goebes indicated later (by phone) that publication grant funds
are 50/50
110 EAS 12/11/85
