APPENDIX "B" (12-85)
historicp reservation commission
• of south bend and st. joseph county
ROOM 1123 COUNTY CITY BUILDING
south bend, indiana 46601 1219 284-9798)
December 4, 1985
STAFF REPORT
RE: 736 E. Bronson
The windows on the northeast side of the house at 736 East Bronson have been boarded
up. Items addressing that issue in the Edqewater Place standards are:
1. Building Materials - Required
The existing or original architectural detail around windows, porches,
doors and eaves should be retained or replaced by replicas of the same
design and materials when deteriorated beyond repair.
2. Windows & Doors - Required
Existing or original windows and doors, including sash, lintels, sills,
shutters, decorative glass, pediments, hoods and hardware shall be retained,
or when deteriorated beyond repair, replaced with duplicates of the existing
or original.
3. Windows & Doors - Prohibited
Inappropriate new window or door features such as aluminum insulating
glass combinations that require the removal of original windows and doors
may not be installed.
Recommendation:
Require removal of boards over windows; require replacement of glass if gone. If
purpose of action was for heat conservation or due to interior remodeling, the
same can be accomplished by closing off windows from the interior and leaving
exterior windows, details, and sash intact.
0
