6. INEW BUSINESS (Cont'd)
Environmental Planning and Design to prepare a pre-
liminary schematic, report and cost estimates utilizing
criteria of the Advisory Board, as noted in Clyde E.
Williams and Associates letter dated October 30, 1974,
in an amount not to exceed $7,000.00.
7. IPUBLIC HEARING
Mr. L. Kent Wilcox, Acting Executive Director, advised there
will be a Public Hearing, at the next Commission Meeting of
November 15, 1974, for the Revision of the Southeast Neighbor-
hood Development Program Guidelines, Indiana Project E -7. The
Advisory Committee has made some changes on the guidelines
and a public hearing will be held on this.
8. IPROGRESS REPORTS
Central Downtown Urbdn Renewal Project; R -66:
1) River Bend Plaza Construction Report: The question
arose from the Commission that two weeks ago they
were assured in one - week's time the pools would be
checked out and in operation. The answer was the
motor needed to be re -wound and it hasn't arrived
yet.
Relating to the extra motor as to whether it had
been purchased, or what the purchase price would
be, the staff has not checked this out. To have
the motor re -wound costs $125.00.
Mr. Thomas A. Oesterling with Clyde E. Williams,
joint venture consulting firm, advised the contractor
had assured them the motor would be re -wound in 24
hours. Mr. Oesterling said he will check the cost
figures out. The fountains are to be closed in one
week for the winter months, per memo from Mr. Slabaugh.
Commissioner Wiggins said we want to look at the
future, in the good weather months, to have the
fountains in operation. This is a point of viable
interest in the Plaza and to program the fountains
to keep the downtime on this at an absolute minimum.
He said the fountains on the corner of Main and
Jefferson, at the old post office building, in the
evening with the ligh% -,on are fantastic.
2) River Bend Plaza Schedule Report: Mr. Wilcox ad-
vised they received complete cooperation from all
arms of the city government for the Halloween events.
He was very pleased with the turnout which was tre-
mendous.
The Christmas decorations will be installed on time
and are being delivered on the morning of 9th of
November.
- 11 -
PUBLIC HEARING,
SOUTHEAST NEIGH-
BORHOOD DEVELOP-
MENT PROGRAM
GUIDELINES, E -7
NOV. 15, 1974
RIVER BEND PLAZA
CONSTRUCTION
REPORT
RIVER BEND PLAZA
SCHEDULE REPORT
