7. PROIGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd) <br />Rev. Kirk stated on City -Wide Relocation Progress.. <br />Report, 31 families moved to permanent housing with <br />our assistance 39 moved "on their own or were re- <br />ferred to other agencies; 7 are in temporary down- <br />town housing; 3 refused to leave their present homes <br />which are pending as they refuse our assistance; 21 <br />are on our present workload for City -Wide relocation. <br />Rev. Kirk submitted a written report on "Rationale <br />for Innovation in Relocation ", to the Commissioners <br />and this will be discussed in;the next Commission ; <br />meetin of September 4-th. <br />8. OUNSTIONS AND ANSWERS <br />ThE question raised by the Commission on the <br />Grand Trunk Railroad property was answered by Mr. <br />Hammer chmidt that we are currently waiting for <br />the last appraisal to come in, which Mr. WilU am <br />Parrish reported will be forthcoming from Mr. Ron <br />Gettel, one of the appraisers. <br />Mr. Helmen expressed concern in that he does not <br />see an options in the immediate downtown area, but <br />we haVE filed a lot of notices. He said we have <br />options on only a couple of properties on Michigan <br />Street outside of the post office site, and a <br />couple of vacant lots on the corner of LaSalle and <br />Michigan Street, and that time is so important. <br />Mr. Ha merschmidt stated those are not scheduled <br />for Clearance until July 1, 1971. Mr. Weaver said <br />offers have been made to everyone and we are cur- <br />rently waiting for answers. <br />Mr. Ha merschmidt said we are concentrating on the <br />combin tion of the post office and the street im- <br />provem nt area. The other areas are not schedule <br />until January 1, 1972. Mr. Helmen asked how many <br />options have been acquired. Mr. Weaver said of <br />the 23C parcels, we have either purchased or ob- <br />tained options on approximately 90. This is ap- <br />proxim tely 40 %. <br />9.
