7. PROGRESS REPORTS (font'd) <br />Mr. Mi ler stated the staff anttdipates -,four firms <br />moving in September, 1970; with a possibility of a <br />fifth moving who is experiencing difficulty in making <br />a decision as to the continuance of certain services <br />offered at the present location. <br />Two claims remain in HUD, Chicago Office,-for concur- <br />rence. One requires a technical evaluation by S. M. <br />Dix and Company. 1 <br />b. Downtown Negotiations: Mr. Hubert M. Weaver,' DOWNTOWN NEGOTIATIONS, <br />stated we are moving along on the post office area. A R-66 <br />couple of the owners who received condemnation letters <br />have c lied and are ready to talk further before filing <br />for co demnation. <br />In the target areas, due January 1, 1971, all owners <br />have been contacted and are making every effort to <br />get answers one way or another. We are moving forward, <br />rather slowly. Acquisition contracts are not coming <br />throug , requiring more effort. <br />Mr. Brice C. Hammerschmidt, Commission Legal Counsel, <br />stated it,appears right now we have to go to trial on <br />only o e parcel of condemnation. Suit has been filed. <br />Presid nt Wilhelm asked: To date, then we have not <br />gone t court on any for condemnation ?" Mr. Hammer <br />Schmid replied that this'is correct. <br />c. Relocation, R -66: Rev. Kirk stated we have <br />had a total workload, to date, of 18 families and 42 <br />indivi uals. To date, staff has relocated 10 families <br />and 29 individuals, and have a remaining workload of <br />8 families and 13 individuals, with an estimated 9 <br />families to come on the workload. <br />d. Property Management: Options have been signed <br />recently in property management, with a total of nine <br />famili s and /or individuals on the property management <br />rolls and 14 business properties. As of August'1, 1970, <br />we hav2 a starting rent roll of $4,100.00. We expect <br />to tak on three additional businesses on the rent roll. <br />e. City -Wide Relocation Progress: Rev. Kirk gave <br />a combined report for the City -Wide Relocation Claims <br />and the City -Wide Relocation Progress Report. The total <br />amount spent on City -Wide Relocation claims from January <br />1 to A gust 14, 1970 was $4,744.13, paid to the following: <br />The Housing Authority $2,298.00; LaSalle Park $186.00; <br />Corby iomes $155.00; hotels $93.60; deposits for utili- <br />ties $717.82; movers $1,293.71. <br />-10- <br />RELOCATION, R -66 <br />PROPERTY MANAGEMENT <br />CITY -WIDE RELOCATION <br />PROGRESS <br />
