Drug & Alcohol, Firearms Policy <br />1. Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy <br />It is the policy of BERGLUND to provide a healthy and safe working environment for its employee <br />by assuring that all employees are fit for duty on the job. Employee involvement with alcohol or <br />drugs can adversely affect the work environment, job performance and safety. Therefore, the <br />following are strictly prohibited: <br />1.1 The use, consumption, distribution, manufacture or dispensing of unlawful drugs or <br />alcohol while on duty or during working hours, <br />1.2 Reporting to work or working while under the influence of or impaired by alcohol, <br />controlled substances or any other drug <br />1.3 The unauthorized possession, during work hours, of alcohol, controlled substances, or <br />any other drug, <br />1.4 The possession of drug paraphernalia <br />All reported drug related information would be kept confidential. Employees have a responsibility <br />to BERGLUND and to those with whom they work to read any and all informational labels on <br />medication and to ask their physician what effect the drug, substance or medication may have on <br />them physically or mentally. Any employee who fails to comply with the above shall be subject to <br />disciplinary action up to and including termination. <br />2. Reporting of Policy Violations and Criminal Convictions <br />All employees shall abide by the terms of this drug and alcohol policy and shall immediately <br />report any unsafe working condition or hazardous activity that may jeopardize the employee's <br />safety or the safety of fellow employees. This responsibility includes immediately reporting <br />violations of this drug and alcohol policy. It is also the employee's responsibility to report any <br />criminal use, possession, manufacture, distribution or dispensing of drugs, controlled substances, <br />or alcohol. Failure to comply with this requirement will subject the employee to disciplinary action <br />up to and including termination. <br />3. Security Inspections <br />BERGLUND wishes to maintain a work environment that is free of illegal drugs, alcohol, firearms, <br />explosives, or other improper materials. To this end, BERGLUND prohibits the possession, <br />transfer, sale, or use of such materials on its premises. BERGLUND requires the cooperation of <br />all employees in administering this policy. <br />Desks, lockers, and other storage devices may be provided for the convenience of employees but <br />remain the sole property of BERGLUND. Accordingly, any agent or representative of BERGLUND <br />can inspect them, as well as articles found within them, at any time, either with or without prior <br />notice. <br />4. Searches <br />BERGLUND reserves the right to carry out reasonable searches of employees and their property <br />(including but not limited to storage areas, lunch boxes, and private vehicles) when there is <br />reasonable cause to suspect that illegal drugs or alcohol may be present. Any employee who <br />refuses to submit immediately to such a search will subject the employee to disciplinary action up <br />to and including termination. <br />5. Testing <br />86 <br />
